Summary Under supervision, the journeyman ironworker is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron and steel erection on the project site. Transforming metal pieces in to functional elements that meet the guidelines of the project by cutting materials and using fabrication techniques. The ideal candidate also demonstrates a strong commitment to safety by following company and industry procedures, as well as promoting company initiatives related to safety. Completion of an apprenticeship or experience in the field

Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment and Physical Demands This position will primarily include work at construction sites where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, bend and reach above shoulders. The employee frequently is required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools or controls; and talk and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Must be able to work on elevated platforms and maintain balance when stepping on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes. Must be able to perform these activities while wearing an approved full-body harness and lanyard. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be working in the typical conditions of a construction environment including seasonal variation in temperatures and the outside environment. The employee must comply with the assigned location PPE requirements including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, appropriate gloves, clothing and shields for required tasks and closed toed or safety shoes as required by the job site location.
