Job Summary: The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing service and support to Fives North American Combustion customers by performing field service installation, startup, repairs and maintenance of Fives Combustion equipment. As well as delivering excellent customer service experience.

Duties & Responsibilities: All duties and responsibilities are essential functions of the position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Manage and conduct start-ups, commissioning, and trouble-shooting of combustion systems.
  • Perform instrument loop checks.
  • Perform system safety checks.
  • Conduct on-site customer training.
  • Maintain daily paperwork requirements, such as daily job time records, service reports, expense reports and billing information.
  • Make all travel arrangements including air travel, hotel and car rental.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • Strict adherence to quality standards and ability to inspect products to ensure they meet customer requirements and company standards
  • Able to follow all company and client safety rules and policies.
  • Typical assignment length ranging from one day to three weeks. Extended stay Jobs are possible
  • Calculate and make flow, pressure and temperature corrections to various metering devices.
  • Competent understanding of electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and instrumentation.
  • Work with NFPA 85 and 86 standards.
  • Work with and conceptualize all aspects of an entire working system

Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Math Ability: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as college algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, linear algebra, differential equations and statistics.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, walk up stairs, work on top of furnaces, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to climb vertical ladders or balance and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, hot or cold temperatures, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Required Experience
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
  • Combustion experience with an understanding of all aspects of combustion control systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and P&IDs.

Desired Experiences:

  • Knowledge of a wide variety of process control components and the ability to set up and adjust mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Familiar with PLCs and ability to navigate through HMI equipment.
  • Emissions testing experience including analyzing equipment.
  • Experience working with various fuels.

Educational Requirements:

  • Technical Degree, Engineering Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
