JOB DESCRIPTION

PAE, in support of the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) out of Stennis Space Center (SSC), is currently seeking a Engineer Intern reporting into the Engineering Manager. The Engineer Intern will have a critical role in both maintaining and developing platforms that provide real time, high quality weather and climate observations used in public safety products such as marine and tropical storm forecasts and tsunami warnings.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Engineering Team with product development through full lifecycle - design, develop, prototype, manufacture, service and disposal.
  • Participate in design reviews with Engineering Team.
  • Review engineering test procedures by performing test as written in the laboratory and providing direct and clear feedback to the responsible engineer.
  • Assist in creating and reviewing 2D & 3D CAD drawing packages for systems, parts and assemblies following GD&T standards.
  • Support 3D printing by assisting with 3D parametric design and overseeing part production.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Basic understanding of CAD software packages such as AutoCad and Inventor.
  • Ability to perform analytical studies by applying engineering principles.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with client, co-workers, and management.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Rising Junior or Senior in an accredited school majoring in Mechanical, Ocean or Marine Engineering.
  • 3D modeling experience preferred.
