Apply prepared paints, powders, lacquers or enamels to products where high grade and decorative finishes are required. Mix finishes to specified color, consistency and viscosity for spraying or brushing application and adjust equipment to obtain the best finish requirements and economy. Maintain and keep equipment and area in a safe clean condition and working order. May regulate and operate baking or drying ovens, prepare surfaces by cleaning, filling, etc.and by performing the following duties.
Cleans and prepares surface of article to be painted.
Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated.
May operate E-coat system load control panel.
May select and mix coating liquid to produce desired viscosity.
Racks work pieces on conveyor, inspects, and transfers parts into and out of department.
May pour coating liquid into spray container and connect gun to air hose.
Set up powder gun.
May perform inventory transactions.
Identify proper paint via structure information.
Turns sprayer valves and nozzle to regulate width and pressure of spray.
Pulls trigger and directs spray onto work surface to apply prime or finish coat.
Loads and moves materials to work area.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). One year related experience and/or training is preferred. Basic understanding of computers.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Record paint usage on daily usage log.
Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
