Senior Reactor Analysis Engineer
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Senior Reactor Analysis Engineer to work in our Nuclear Safety Analysis department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our (Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) with every other Friday off.
The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is looking for candidates as a Senior Reactor Engineering Analyst reporting to the MFC Nuclear Safety Analysis Department within the MFC Engineering Division. Responsibilities Include:
As a Senior Reactor Analysis Engineer, responsible for oversight and delivery of confirmatory analyses to support design and product acceptance of new nuclear reactor systems development activities for INL with a specific near-term focus on micro-reactors and other National Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) projects.
Main functions of the role are:
* Directs, coordinates and performs supporting confirmatory calculations and startup planning in area of technical expertise (e.g. reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, thermo-mechanical analysis) to support development of facility and reactor specific safety basis supporting analyses.
* Scope of work includes planning, scheduling, and tracking of reactor analyses and overseeing technical quality of work produced by other reactor engineering analysts as well as planning for startup testing and verification activities to validate analytical work and ensure safety.
* Responsible for providing support to project and planning activities related to new reactor design and acceptance, working with design and nuclear safety organizations, interfacing with external reactor designers and DOE (ID and HQ), and contributing organizations (e.g. structural analysis, criticality safety, radiation protection, etc.).
* Provide direction for evaluation and resolution of complex engineering problems.
* Make technical decisions based on sound engineering practices and following Laboratory procedures.
* Take active role in personal development through learning opportunities, career development, and mentoring and being a mentor to junior staff.
