Position Purpose:
The building and grounds position performs work in maintaining, caring for and modifying Veolia Flanders equipment, grounds, landscapes, and the overall facility in Flanders, NJ. Tasks include (but are not limited to) manual labor, machine/vehicle operation, planning and forecasting, materials management, problem-solving solving and the ability to work with little supervision.

Primary Duties/responsibilities:

  • Upkeep and maintenance of the facility grounds
  • Operation of electric and gas-powered ground-keeping equipment.
  • Load and unload various size containers (totes, drums, tankers, trailers. etc.)
  • Construct boxes and/or fiber containers and stacks, labels, and loads containers.
  • Use a variety of tools (hand powered and mechanical)
  • Perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Inspection material handling equipment as directed.
  • Loading/unloading of supplies and warehouse material for the facility.
  • Equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Building maintenance and repairs
  • Supply pickup and delivery
  • Custodial services
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) preferred
  • Prior work experience of 1 to 2 years with relevant experience, proficiency in landscaping, machine/vehicle operation, and a variety of tools preferred

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate through reading and writing
  • Trained in the use of material handling equipment
  • Trained in the use of landscaping equipment
  • Use of a computer

Required Certification / Licenses / Training:

  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred
  • Valid driver's license
