JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Defense Aftermarket Project Manager
PLANT/DEPARTMENT: DIRECTED BY:
Defense Aftermarket Director of Defense Parts & Service
IMPORTANT WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: External Customers, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Subcontract Management, Accounting, Program Management, Engineering
DIRECTS: No direct reports
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Manage the scheduling, cost, technical performance, and customer
interface of Defense Aftermarket parts orders through effective communication and direction of internal functional departments.
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Maximize sales in Defense Aftermarket while maintaining margin targets
- Accurately & quickly respond to Requests for Quotation (RFQs) for aftermarket parts orders
- Review incoming orders to ensure the contract requirements match what was quoted
- Coordinate with Contracts Administrator to review contract requirements and necessary flow downs before accepting orders
- Communicate quality, schedule, and budget requirements to internal departments (Purchasing, Manufacturing, etc.) and ensure a successful plan is in place to deliver on time and at or under budget
- Monitor and manage quality, schedule, and cost performance of orders, implementing recovery plans & solutions as needed.
- Provide professional and timely customer service regarding order updates, contract modifications and problem resolution.
- Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED/SPECIAL NOTES:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and problem resolution skills
- Excellent customer service telephone skills, especially in providing prompt answers to customer inquiries
- Knowledge of defense contracting adequate to understand and communicate requirements
- Basic ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Planning and project management skills to effectively develop and communicate a plan for successful order delivery meeting all requirements
- Computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word, and ability to learn ERP system.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
