PositionSummary:Under the direction of the School Principal, the Attendance Secretary (AS) maintains student attendance records St. Joseph Academy and supports the secretarial staff providing a warm, welcoming and responsive presence to children, families, staff and visitors. The AS will track, enter and report student attendance, communicating with students, parents and teachers. In addition, the AS will perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal and Executive Director.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent required
1+ years in a clerical/reception role, including knowledge of office procedures, clerical and reception duties
Knowledgeable about Milwaukee Parental Choice Program (MPCP) and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) preferred
Bilingual – fluency in English and Spanish language is required
Proficient user of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Experience with Childcare or School Information Management System preferred (such as ProCare or Sycamore Education)
Strong customer service and public relations skills, including proper phone etiquette skills
Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) and effectively interact with children, family members, colleagues, staff members and the public
Ability to work independently, while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
Ability to respond positively to work direction and guidance from others
Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job
Current CPR, First Aid and Certification preferred
Physical and Mental Requirements: Must have ability to sit (75%), walk/stand (25%), routinely throughout the shift. Must be able to periodically lift up to 50 lbs. Must have functional senses/manual dexterity for effective communications and use of office equipment. Must have the ability to deal effectively with the stress of managing emergency/critical situations and multiple tasks.
Environmental Conditions: Performs duties with exposure to infectious or communicable diseases inherent to the care of children, and occasional exposure to loud or unpleasant voices due to unpredictable behavior of the children and seasonal exposure to high humidity, heat and cold due to the internal and external environment.
