Job Description

SUMMARY
Under the direction of Director, Racial Equity, this position supports United Ways racial equity work, including the Reducing Barriers to Employment portfolio. 

The Racial Equity Partner identifies and researches trends in our community to drive United Way funding priorities, informs Community Impact investment strategies and directions, creates and manages strategic plan goals, provides oversight and project management, as needed, for grants, and attracts additional financial resources by leveraging United Way investments and demonstrating measurable community impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, but are not limited to:

MANAGE REDUCING BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT INITIATIVE
Develop an investment/allocation plan that includes achievement of measurable results and alignment with community visions and impact areas/strategies within the RBEA initiative. Responsibilities may include the following:
  • Coordinate competitive grant RFP process
  • Coordinate an Advisory Committee
  • Conduct annual site visits.
  • Review Mid-Year and Year End Reports.
  • Explore and cultivate partnership opportunities throughout the community, including within non-traditional settings.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH and PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT AROUND RACIAL EQUITY
  • Maintain positive agency/community based organizations relations.
  • In collaboration with Director, represent United Way on various committees and community initiatives, specifically those aligned with Racial Equity.
  • Encourage collaboration with corporate and foundation sectors to maximize the development and use of resources, using impact data to demonstrate investment effectiveness.
  • Support the annual campaign through talks, training and outcome/impact examples.
  • Support our Community Conversations team to ensure community-voice across Community Impact

ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
  • Assist Director, Racial Equity in determining needs and resources through research and networking in order to assist in the development of solutions to community problems.
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
  • Assist Director, Racial Equity with their facilitation of internal and external initiatives by providing administrative support, including coordinating meetings, preparing notes, presentations, and communication. Specifically, provide administrative support for Racial Equity Community Advisory Council including scheduling, meeting notes, set up, preparation of materials/supplies, volunteer contact, basic memo writing, developing agendas, and follow-up communication.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, or other related field + 1-3 years of health and human services experience . Evidence of ability to develop collaborative efforts. Demonstrated success in problem anticipation and resolution. Ability to work well independently and within a team including staff and volunteers; interpersonal skills and coaching techniques. Ability to present ideas and proposals in clear, concise, motivational manner, both in writing and verbally. Ability to recommend and implement policy/procedural changes and recordkeeping skills. Understanding of community needs and strategies to promote Health-enhancing programs and strategies.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to work in a complex environment using technical and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and work effectively with volunteers and others in the community representing a broad range of interests and backgrounds.  Demonstrated analytical abilities.  Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Good understanding of group dynamics and group facilitation skills. Experience in working with diverse populations. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information on top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. Ability to establish good working relationships with a variety of publics, including staff members, volunteers, contributors, member and non-member agency representatives, alternate federations and vendors.

Experience in working with computerized software, such as Microsoft Word, Excel or other similar programs.  Experience or knowledge of computer-based outcome reporting systems. Demonstrated capacity to handle financial development opportunities related to investment portfolio.

Position requires significant interaction with agency partners and access to highly confidential information.  Additionally, the portfolio manager must independently complete complex work and apply sound judgment in response to evolving issues.
