Job Description
**** Remote US Based Role ****What you will doLeads global activities and the Products personnel related to supplier quality performance and overall supply chain sustainability. Scope of activities includes all suppliers who provide goods and services to designated Products teams. Total spend in excess of $2 Billion. Primary focus on achieving sustainable high quality performance from suppliers who provide direct material to plants or branded third party material with one of the Johnson Controls brand names. Work cross functionally and globally to ensure processes are in place to incorporate failure prevention and mitigation in D3 process related to supplier provided components; support D3 process through coordination of the supplier Part Approval and Process Sign-Off Process (PAPSO); monitor incoming supplier quality performance; respond to plant and/or supplier quality field related issues with root cause determination and corrective action; and ensure ongoing sustainability of suppliers with appropriate assessment activity. Management of Issue Resolution Information System (IRIS) which is a comprehensive global supplier data management system that communicates issues to suppliers and collects data for Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPPM), reports root cause analysis, corrective action and continuous improvement plan as it applies to Strategic / Critical Suppliers quality issues.How you will do itActs as a Program Manager to help develop strategies and lead global teams of quality professionals to monitor supplier performance based upon multiple metrics such as Supplier DPPM, Supplier Cost Recovery (SCB), Supplier Delivery, and Supplier Warranty issues Conducts assessments with a cross functional team for Strategic / Critical suppliers to determine reason for poor performance, monitors corrective action and continuous improvement validations.Identifies & monitors with key suppliers a Supplier Quality Improvement Roadmap that will meet Johnson Controls expectations and overall supplier sustainability criteria. Based on on-site assessment and verification.Evaluates risk of new suppliers and/or 3rd Party Suppliers to deliver upon program requirements including on site or other assessments; using JCI-Risk Assessment, Supplier Assessment, and other tools. Works throughout D3 to ensure suppliers' readiness. Activities include DFMEA PFMEA, control plan development, capacity run at rates, and other activities to accomplish successful PPAP.Manages and deploys to all JCI manufacturing or distribution sites within the designated teams, the Issue Resolution Information System (IRIS) which is the primary key performance indicator that collects pertinent data on supplier defects (SMRR), supplier delivery (DMR), and supplier chargeback for recovery (SCB).Develops and mentors Supplier Quality Engineers who work closely with Products Quality personnel and has direct interface with Suppliers and their functional leadership.Reviews monthly and annually the quality issues of the top 5 global suppliers and the top 5 suppliers within the assigned Products teams which relates to the highest reject quality, highest # of issues, and delivery issues. Communicates, recommends, schedules through Procurement Directors or Category Mgs the suppliers that are required to attend a Management Quality Review (MQR). Reviews critical Supplier Capacity issues and performs on-site Run at Rate where supplier capacity issues are identified through Procurement and or Engineering personnelWorks across Products Business Unit as required, developing or re-evaluating common methodologies and leveraging synergies for items such as supplier scorecard, supplier awards, supplier performance monitoring, supplier portal strategy, and other areas with shared opportunity.Acts and facilitates as a Quality subject expert and conducts training of the quality tools as required through the Purchasing Academy or scheduled supplier training events.Interfaces to all global plant quality personnel as well as plant materials, plant controllers and plant managersWhat we look for Required* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent experience required.* Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment supporting multiple facilities or a global platform from a product, quality, or reliability perspective.* Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills with strong problem solving capabilities.* Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.* Approximately 60% travel with international travel required.Preferred* Triple certification in Lean, Kepner Tregoe, and Six Sigma desired. * HVAC Experience a plusJohnson Controls International plc. is an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, protected veteran status, genetic information, status as a qualified individual with a disability, or any other characteristic protected by law.
