Position Summary:
Under general direction of the Production Manager, the Maintenance Technician oversees all aspects of this solo maintenance department, production lines and affiliated equipment, building and grounds. The Maintenance Tech schedules and performs the work necessary to meet production demands, maintain the preventative maintenance system and work toward meeting or exceeding the plants safety and uptime goals. The Maintenance Tech controls maintenance expenses by monitoring overtime and parts expenses.
The Maintenance Tech establishes and maintains mechanical integrity and equipment reliability programs to ensure employee safety and provides environmental security to maximize the plant’s availability, product quality, and cost effectiveness. Other primary duties include: ownership of the plant’s PM activities; leadership of equipment performance tracking and repair/improvement prioritization; technical guidance and coaching of mechanical craftsmen; and engineering support of maintenance and capital projects.
 
Essential Responsibilities: (other duties as assigned)
  • Perform all equipment and systems diagnostics, corrective repairs and maintenance associated within the facilities, including: production equipment, building equipment, and utilities. Systems to include lighting, HVAC, compressed air, hot and cold water systems, electrical, and all similar systems located throughout the facilities.
  • Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance of equipment to ensure that the equipment and processes are maintained in a preventive fashion to ensure optimum reliability and up time.
  • Work to maintain the integrity of the facilities and operating equipment to ensure safety requirements are maintained and safe, reliable product is delivered to customers
  • Effectively utilize and maintain the preventative maintenance system, including following all computer based and paper processes for work order completion and documentation.
  • Lead and/or participate with root cause analysis for operating problems including the identification of contributing causes for non-operating events and work to eliminate the root cause for continuous improvement.
  • Closely integrate with the manufacturing team to provide accurate, concise, and professional updates as to important repair steps taken, parts ordered, and time estimated until completion.
  • Lead projects as required to purchase, remove, install and or make operational equipment needed to efficiently meet production needs.
  • Schedule and monitor all work being performed by outside contractors to ensure that it meets required time lines and industry wide standards.
  • Perform limited general labor as needed.

Qualifications:
  • HS diploma or equivalent required, Associate's Degree in technical field preferred.
  • 5 or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment troubleshooting and repairing all types of industrial processes: mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic.
  • PLC/Automation preferably.
  • Proficiency in equipment troubleshooting and repair/rebuild to resolve maintenance issues, improve equipment reliability, minimize equipment downtime and support improvement activities for productivity and yield enhancement.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, blue prints, schematics, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
