Responsibilities: Perform as a dental hygienist consistent with professional standards as set by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services and Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers policies and procedures, performs screenings and assessments as expected of a dental hygienist seeing Pediatric and Adult patients, design and implement an ongoing patient recall system for maintenance of teeth, clean and polish teeth, remove calcareous deposits, accretions and stains from teeth and beneath gums; apply topical fluoride treatments, including silver diamine fluoride, perform scaling and root planning if needed under the direction of a consultative dentist.

Qualifications:
Licensed to practice as Dental Hygienist in State of Wisconsin
Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a licensed Registered Dental Hygienist working a full scope of practice license
Thorough skill in using dental instruments for oral prophylaxis
Licensed to administer local anesthetic in the state of Wisconsin preferred
Ability to perform routine dental laboratory and dental patient care tasks
Ability to place dental sealants and temporary restorations
Must be able to perform all dental hygiene responsibilities without a dental assistant
Ability to communicate effectively and educate patients on proper oral hygiene procedures
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, officials, the public, patients, and other private and public organizational representative, dental care personnel and community groups and organizations
Must be able to work in a clinic environment that allows for whatever flexibility is needed to meet the immediate patient needs which will include providing care in the medical exam room
Ability to work under pressure, maintain personal composure, evaluate situations and act/react appropriately, and use tact in dealing with visitors, patients, and difficult situations.
BLS Health Care Provider Certification
Experience in Public Health and with multi-cultural populations preferred
