About the role:

As a Mainframe Software Developer you will work within a scrum development team on the mainframe. The developer must be able to successfully analyze, code, unit and regression test application programs in both an Online (CICS) and Batch (MVS) environment. In addition, you will be collaborating with technical and business experts in the design and maintenance of software solutions based on strategic discussions with internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years of mainframe experience using COBOL, as well as an understanding of DB2, CICS, and Job Control Language (JCL). Additionally, this role will be involved in daily Scrum meetings that require collaboration, so a consistent presence in the Brookfield, WI office is necessary to be successful in the position.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Interpret functional requirements, perform analysis then create or modify software providing high value customer solutions
• Tasks include designing, testing, debugging, documenting, and installing software components
• Ensure products, applications, documents and systems are in compliance with established quality standards
• Implement and support multiple applications in test and production environments
• Participate in on-call rotation to resolve issues
• Document process and produce process flow diagrams
• Provide status and project updates to scrum team and management

Qualifications:

• Mainframe technical experience, including interfaces, tools, and associated technologies
• Ability to research and document existing applications and create new applications following standards and guidelines
• Ability to effectively engage subject matter experts and understand technical topics
• Ability to work effectively with technical and business experts
• Willingness and ability to work effectively on a scrum team and be an active practitioner of scrum concepts Strong analytical and technical skills along with solid communication skills, both written and verbal
• Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including offshore teams

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in COBOL, DB2, CICS and Job Control Language are preferred for this role
• Experience with Batch Processing
• Experience with TSO/JCL/DB2, Changeman, IBM Dbug, Platinum, VISIO/Lucid Chart is not needed, but desired
• ZEKE job scheduling or knowledge of comparable scheduling packages
