Job Description

Quality Supervisor

 
Gardner Denver, an international corporation with over one hundred locations throughout the world has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Supervisor at our Industrial Products Group-Americas manufacturing plant in Princeton, Illinois.  As required, this position will supervisor the Quality Engineering and Quality Technician positions at the local site to provide technical support and ensure compliance to quality standards for the manufacturing operations.  This position will also work with the Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure outside suppliers (domestic and international) are providing raw material and manufactured components that comply with all engineering and purchasing specifications.  
 
Job Description:
  • Direct supervisor for Quality Engineering, Quality Technicians, and plant level Warranty Administration.
  • Monitors production First-Pass-Yield data, supplier score cards, warranty trends, and other key quality metrics.  Partner with the Plant Manager, Production Supervision, and the Sourcing Team to initiate corrective actions for key quality metrics as required.
  • In conjunction with an off-site Supplier Quality Engineer, work with outside vendors to develop or improve manufacturing processes for purchased components.
  • Actively participate in Kaizen Events and other Lean activities to improve quality and drive out waste / cost from the manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure vendor changes, part substitutions, and First Article Inspections are compliant with plant quality procedures.
  • Assist Manufacturing Engineering to troubleshoot and resolve production problems.
  • Work closely with global Customer Service, Field Service and Manufacturing personnel to resolve customer / field issues regarding legacy and new products.
  • Oversee the plant compliance to ISO-9001 Quality System standard.
  • Use advanced Quality Assurance techniques (FMEA, CMM Inspection, GD&T, Gage R&R Studies, Process Capability Studies…) to proactively manage product quality.
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Industrial / Engineering Management preferred).  Must have good mechanical aptitude of general machinery.    
  • Previous experience in SAP or other ERP type systems is preferred.
  • Previous Manufacturing / Quality Engineering experience in a machining manufacturing environment utilizing Lean / Six Sigma techniques is preferred.
  • Ability to lead a global, cross functional team comprised of personnel from the purchasing, manufacturing, sales/marketing, etc. and reach project goals within schedule parameters.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent communication, project management and organizational skills.  Must be capable to work in a fast paced, creative, results-oriented atmosphere.
