Job Description
Job Summary: 
As an Estimator you are responsible for preparing, coordinating and monitoring estimating activities from pre-planning phase through project execution for labor, materials, equipment and subcontractors of projects throughout the US.  Coordinate estimating activities with owners, design and construction staff, project managers, subcontractors and suppliers to develop estimate scope and schedule. Working closely with Business Development and Preconstruction.
 
Essential Business Performing Functions:
  • Develop, evaluate, compile and present scope and cost data for construction and project estimates.
  • Prepare estimate calculations for quantity take-off of labor and materials from plans and specifications.
  • Perform take-offs of construction documents and input into spreadsheets and estimating programs.
  • Create and implement procedures for conducting estimates including creation of spreadsheets, formulas and presentation formats for estimates.
  • Manage and maintain the Invitation to Bid system. Ensure all subcontractor and supplier data is uploaded.
  • Review and complete bid proposals, specifications, drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimates.
  • Partner and work closely with architects, owners, subcontractors, suppliers and project managers.
  • Evaluate subcontractors, suppliers, and material costs and pricing structure.
  • Seeks, qualify and incorporate subcontractors and suppliers into project plan.
  • Participate in pre-award value engineering and constructability review discussions.
  • Review estimates with design, operations, project and construction staff to ensure equipment, logistics and job site considerations are included.
  • Assist with the preparation and set-up of project budgets.
  • Monitor and reconcile cost estimates as project progresses.  Review and update change order proposals.
  • Perform project management duties as needed.
 
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field.  Or, equivalent combination of technical training and work experience. 
  • Experience using building related estimating software and systems is a plus
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel required.
