Join our team who is committed to the delivery of the highest quality health care service. We are seeking a full-time Healthy Schools Program Coordinator that is self-motivated, energetic, and a take charge individual.
Responsibilities: This position reports to the Healthy Choices Department Manager and is responsible for coordinating the Healthy Schools Program with the goal of improving the food and physical activity environment for students and parents through health education, policies and strategic partnerships.
Develop, coordinate, facilitate and evaluate culturally appropriate healthy lifestyles programming for parents and students (nutrition, cooking, gardening as well as physical activity)
Recruit, train and supervise Farm to School AmeriCorps members and volunteers
Build and coordinate relationship school administrators, teachers, parents and students
Develop strategic partnerships with MPS, farmers and other organizations
Support the work of existent wellness school wellness and gardening committees or facilitate their creation
Promote and support implementation of school food and physical activity policies
Manage inventory and distribution of all programming materials within budget guidelines
Update and maintain participant’s attendance and evaluations data
Prepare outcome based reports
Lead external presentations and outreach activities
Assist the Community and Family Programs Coordinators when needed
Collaborate with other SSCHC departments involved with schools and obesity (diabetes, environmental health and behavioral health)
Maintain regular contact with supervisor and provide weekly progress reports
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a health, education, nutrition or communications related field strongly preferred
Experience working for a community-based and/or health-related agency or program
Ability to relate well to and communicate with people of various ages and from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
Excellent written and oral communications skills in Spanish and English highly required.
Ability to take initiative and provide effective leadership
Clear understanding of social media and strong public speaking skills.
Proficient computer abilities including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
Problem solving, detailed planning and time management skills
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Adapts to changes in the work environment; change approach or method to best fit the situation.
Required to work a flexible schedule to facilitate program services that may include nights and weekends
Support organization and department’s goals and values with a strong commitment to the mission
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license, use of an automobile, and current auto insurance
