What is the purpose of our Supported Parenting Program?

The Supported Parenting Program is a family support, home visitation program which helps prepare, strengthen, and support at-risk families. Our program promotes positive parenting and healthy interactions between parent and child as they interact on a day-to-day basis with their children. 
Catholic Charities is currently seeking a full-time Family Support Worker to support and serve clients in Milwaukee County.

What will I do as a Family Support Coordinator?

As a Family Support Coordinator, you will provide in-home visiting services to parent(s), first-time parent(s), and those with children at risk.  You will create an individualized plan to help parent(s) develop confidence in caring for their children and building self-esteem. The Family Support Worker provides education about child growth and development as well as offers support and reinforcement for healthy parenting skills. You will also have the opportunity to offer assistance to all members of the family to resolve the tensions and discord which can arise about co-parenting, visitation, discipline, etc.

What are the requirements?
 
Candidates are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, or related field required, such as: Human Development and Family Studies, Human Services, or Sociology. 2 years of previous experience in family services or health care, preferably focusing on prenatal and child development is a plus.

As a Family Support Coordinator, you will travel to client’s residence (approximately 50% of the time), which requires a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and vehicle insurance (liability coverage: $100,000/person and $300,000/accident).
