Job Description
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant Professor rank to join our Mathematics department. MSOE has a new and growing program in Actuarial Science. The program is approved by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) to be on their list of Universities and Colleges with Actuarial Programs and approved in all three VEE (Validation of Educational Experience) areas: VEE Applied Statistics, VEE Corporate Finance and VEE Economics.

At the time of hiring, candidates are expected to have a doctoral degree in Actuarial Science or closely related areas, such as probability or statistics. Having obtained (or close to obtaining) status of Associate of either the Society of Actuaries or the Casualty Actuaries Society would be a strong asset. The primary teaching responsibility of the candidate is probability, statistics, financial math and other actuarial science courses. Mathematics faculty are also expected to teach all undergraduate courses offered by the department. ABDs (All But Dissertation) nearing completion can be considered at the instructor level. Applications from senior and qualified candidates can be considered for a higher rank.

MSOE offers degrees in actuarial science, business, construction management, engineering, nursing and technical communications. We are located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee and are recognized in several national publications for our “applications – oriented” approach. Faculty is judged primarily on excellence in teaching. MSOE graduates are in high demand, as evidenced by our strong job placement rate.

To apply, please upload a single PDF file which includes a cover letter, a detailed resume and evidence of teaching excellence.
Candidates are to apply by visiting www.msoe.edu/hr or on MilwaukeeJobs.com by selecting "Apply Now".  Only candidates who apply through the MSOE or MilwaukeeJobs websites will be considered.

Also, arrange for three letters of recommendation to be independently sent to the department chair Dr. M. Kaltchev at kaltchev@msoe.edu. At least one letter should address teaching. The review of candidates will begin on October 1st, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled.
