Job Description
Plans, schedules and purchases materials according to customer and forecast demands.  Executes materials tasks according to the overall strategy and specific account requirements. Selects and manages quality suppliers to procure materials, components, supplies and services at most favorable costs and terms in line with the company’s purchasing goals of cost, quality, delivery and service.
 
Performs support roles related to materials, purchasing, inventory control, and routine maintenance.  Works with Production Planning to support scheduling of orders to assure on-time delivery and to meet expectations.  Back-up and support activities related to functional roles of Manufacturing as needed and assigned.

You Will:
  • Purchase products and services by planner code as assigned by the Purchasing and Supply Manager.
  • Executes day-to-day buying functions as set-up within defined planner codes and defined vendors. 
  • Issue PO’s, schedule pick-up and delivery if needed, and perform material receipt transactions as needed.
  • Maintain optimum inventory levels to ensure on-time deliveries to meet customer requirements while minimizing purchase cost, carrying cost and transportation cost.
  • Assist with foreign suppliers of purchased items, analyzing performance for continuity of supply, pricing, delivery and quality satisfaction.  
  • Develop new suppliers as needed. 
  • Obtain business and financial references of prospective suppliers and assist with supplier qualification.
  • Analyze data related to material, production, and inventory planning.
  • Develop or monitor analysis tools to make the supply chain as effective as possible. 
  • Gather, organize, and present data in support of planning and inventory control activities.
  • Assist Production Planner with Kanban job scheduling as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining item master control parameters that support and are aligned with the inventory control and production planning strategy. 
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of operations metrics including:  customer on-time delivery, supplier performance, supplier quality, inventory levels, shop capacity levels, and other measurements as assigned by the Purchasing and Supply Manager.
You Have (Requirements):
  • College Degree – Bachelor’s Degree preferably.
  • Manufacturing/Operations courses completed preferably.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience performing buying functions within the overall operations services area.
