Job Description

We are seeking a Grants Writer and Fund Development Manager that will manage the effort to maintain and grow our relationships with and leverage resources of private charitable, corporate and community foundations to help Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers reach its organizational goals.


Responsibilities include:  Reporting to the VP of Advancement, the Grants Writer and Fund Development Manager will work with Development staff and other department leaders and staff to support their research, grant writing and grant management needs. Responsible to expand the organization’s foundation support, the Grants Writer and Fund Development Manager will assist in identifying new prospects and helping to cultivate and steward relationships with program officers at current and lapsed donors from among national, regional, local, family and corporate foundations.

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in related field, Master’s preferred.
  2. Grant professional certification, preferred.
  3. 5 or more years’ experience working as a grant writer in a nonprofit fundraising department and a record of successfully funded foundation grants
  4. Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy and ability to work under pressure to meet grant deadlines.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, online grant submissions systems and Donor Perfect or a similar database is required.
  6. Proven written communication skills demonstrating a command of technical and storytelling language; includes the ability to write persuasively, clearly and concisely and to blend information from multiple sources into a single, effective document.
  7. Excels at articulating agency goals, outcomes, objectives, and evaluation strategies for funders.
  8. A solid understanding of programmatic budgets as required for social-service grants and proposals.
  9. Experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining systems for tracking, reporting and managing deadlines.
  10. Ability as a project manager to lead a team toward on-time deliverables.
  11. Ability to relate well to people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
  12. Ability to work with businesses, foundations, government agencies, Boards of Directors, and community organizations.
  13. Ability to analyze and evaluate program results and to draw conclusions and present solutions as it relates to purpose and granting institutions.
