Job Description
Job summary
  • Assure food products are safe and fall within Echo Lake Foods’ and customer specifications, and are produced in an efficient and cost-effective manner while observing all USDA and FDA requirements. If a Quality Assurance Technician is unavailable, another Quality Assurance employee will assume the essential job functions.
Summary of essential job functions
  • Enforce GMPs.
  • Monitor weights/temperatures of products as produced and packaged (solids, salts, pH, color).
  • Monitor metal detector performance, sanitizer levels and temperature of freezers, coolers and tanks throughout the day.
  • Test and calibrate all plant thermometers and weighing scales.
  • Monitor and verify HACCP critical control points & critical quality points.
  • Collect samples throughout the day for micro analysis and USDA surveillance program.
  • Perform housekeeping, GMP and glass and quality audits as required.
  • Assure organoleptic specifications are met for products.
  • Monitor packaging material, labels, retail packaging codes and lot numbers.
  • Participate in or conduct customer audits and mock recall exercises.
  • Perform preoperational and operational inspection of all Processing lines.
  • Review all daily paperwork, including HACCP, and forward for review.
  • Manage & help enforce any corrective actions with Plant Manager and document.
  • Maintain and update QA records.
  • Train operators & production personnel on food safety & quality parameters, standards as needed.
  • Help create a visual standard directory for all products
  • Divert unacceptable products to HOLD & communicate with plant & corporate management as needed
Minimum requirements
  • Strong math and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Observant
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Previous food experience a plus
Abilities required
  • Must be able to lift 30-40 lbs.
  • Must be able to speak, write and understand English.
  • Must be physically able to walk throughout the plant during hourly QA rounds, and climb ladders and step stools as required during QA duties.
  • Must have visual acuity in order to detect product deficiencies and food safety issues and report to management...
  • Must be able to perform all technical Lab duties.
