The Social Work Department at Mount Mary College invites applications for the position of Department Chair. This full-time, 10-month contract, tenure track position will begin in August, 2013. Mount Mary College has a very attractive, wooded, beautifully landscaped campus in a lovely suburb with immediate access to the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
This position requires an M.S.W. and a Ph.D. in social work or a related discipline, although candidates nearing the completion of a Ph.D. will be considered. A minimum of two years of full-time, professional social work practice experience is required. This position also requires teaching experience at the baccalaureate level and experience with CSWE accreditation including thorough knowledge of the 2008 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards. Demonstrated leadership in social work education will be sought in candidates; this would include excellence in teaching and program administration.
Leadership for the Social Work Department includes; recruitment and mentoring of faculty and staff; recruitment and retention of majors; chairing of several committees including an active community advisory committee and admission and screening committee for upper division students; teaching classroom and field courses including research; academic advising of majors; departmental budget development and administration; participation in college committee work; sponsorship of social work continuing education offerings; and maintaining relationships with the social work practice community.
