Job Description

Job Summary:
Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality control and assurance of processes, materials and products by performing the following duties:
 

  • Implement the established quality systems at GS to ensure that materials and products meet quality requirements and expectations.

  • Lead internal and external resources in solving problems to establish and execute quality processes throughout organization.

  • Incoming inspections: Verification of purchased products prior to use or sale by GS.  Using appropriate testing and measuring equipment to assess products.  Disposition of products found to be non-conforming.  Recording findings and maintaining database records.

  • Finished goods inspections:  Assist with the inspection of selected finished assemblies to verify conformance to requirements using prints, specifications, checklists, workmanship standards.

  • Non-conforming product resolution: Issuing supplier ProbTraks for non-conforming purchased product or internal ProbTraks for GS errors.  Tracking and containing non-conforming product (incoming lots, inventory, WIP). Problem investigation and root cause analysis.  ProbTrak follow-up to ensure corrective/preventive actions taken.

  • Supplier qualification and development:  Assist in conducting evaluations (audit) of suppliers and qualification of supplier quality systems.  Assist with supplier corrective actions and follow-up visits/inspections as necessary.

  • Customer reported product defects:  Validating customer-reported defects.  Investigating causes and collecting data as appropriate.  Follow-up with internal and/or supplier corrective actions.  Assist in documenting and replying to customer non-conformance notices.

  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP):  Assist with the completion of customer required PPAP documentation and, as needed, assist with obtaining PPAP documentation from suppliers.

  • Preventive maintenance & tool calibration:  Working with other assigned GS technicians, execute PM schedules and maintain records of maintenance and service of test stands and other critical equipment.  Assist the GS Calibration Coordinator with regular calibration and maintenance of tools and instruments.

  • Conduct supplier quality audits and internal 5S audits.

  • Participate on the GS Safety Committee.

Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering related area of study or relevant experience
