Position Overview
The General Accounting Manager is primarily responsible for analyzing financial information and preparing financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, liability, or other financial activities within the Company. This position manages the overall coordination and supervision of the accounting department.
Essential Job Functions
Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
Analyze and manage department operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
Make accounting entries to general ledger, properly classifying entries based upon an understanding of the chart of accounts.
Oversee Asset Management function by ensuring proper inventory documentation; recognizing depreciation, and accounting for sale or disposal of asset.
Prepare supporting documentation for month-end financials by documenting and explaining variances, unusual activity, etc.
Assist in financial and tax audits by preparing requisite reports, researching issues, meeting with auditors, and following up on outstanding issues.
Assist bank audit by preparing requisite reports, scheduling appointments, researching issues, meeting with the bankers, and closing out outstanding items.
Monitor and assess revenue recognition; make appropriate GL entries.
Ensure collection of unclaimed property due TRC.
Review and reconcile company debt, interest, and related expenses.
Maintain chart of accounts, financial periods, and financial reports.
Manage Accounting Manager and Staff Accountant.
EssentialManagement Job Functions
Implement process improvements as warranted to achieve efficiency and effectiveness for the operations department.
Annually prepare a proposed budget for the department to be submitted to the Executive Management Team for review.
Recruit and develop employees within the department to ensure appropriate bench strength to meet future needs of the Company.
Provide feedback to employees on a regular, ongoing basis.
Perform employee management functions in accordance with policies and practices.
Continually develop and promote a sense of teamwork and collaboration within in TRC.
Provide appropriate escalation of issues and reporting as required to the Executive Management Team.
Demonstrate a "lead by example" mindset through respectful and effective communication, work ethic, quality of work, innovative thinking, and collaborative work environment.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
4 year college degree in accounting or minimum of 5 years of work experience including GAAP accounting.
2+ years supervisory experience.
Educational, Experience, and Licensing Preferred Requirements
Prior tax and audit experience
CPA certification
Experience using Solomon accounting software
Proficient in Excel, including complex formulas and workbooks, pivot tables, and reporting

Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to follow data entry/department standards

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

Strong project management skills to accurately assess scope, develop viable plans, and mitigate risk
Strong work ethic with off-hours flexibility and able to travel as needed to meetings and training events
Physical Requirements
This position is considered light duty with frequent phone and computer use. Ability to stand, climb stairs and lift at least 25 pounds.
