Job Description
Summary
Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor - Fabrication ensures the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards and customer specifications and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
 
 
  1. Understand the set up and operation of all of the machines in the manufacturing area.
  2. Check inventory for count and proper materials.
  3. Report defective material to the Operations Manager so corrective action can be taken.
  4. Oversee inventory for completed orders on the shop floor.
  5. Provide training to shop staff.
  6. Schedule production to satisfy customer requirements per date required.
  7. Assign personnel to work stations.
  8. Function as a quality inspector, to ensure that customer specifications and requirements are satisfied
  9. Prioritize, schedule, and delegate work assignments, and directly supervise the production of company products at the highest quality at the lowest possible cost, meeting company performance standards, and customer specification and delivery requirements, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  10. Continually evaluate processes and methods, recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, utilization of people, and quality of product.
  11. Act as a technical resource to address and resolve inquiries and problems; analyze and resolve work problems, and assist workers in solving work problems.
  12. Maintain departmental supplies, tools, equipment, and order as necessary.
  13. Ensure the completion of all required production paperwork, records, documentation, such as time cards, quality records, etc.
  14. Ensure compliance with departmental housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma is required. 2-5 years experience in supervising in a job shop environment.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, purchase orders, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, procedure manuals, and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
