Fleet Mechanic
ELT- LLC is seeking a qualified Diesel Mechanic to join our team!  Our fleet mechanics maintain equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; making adjustments and alignments.    

Essential Duties:
 
  • Responsible for inspecting, trouble shooting, diagnosing and repairing semi tractors, reefer trailers and medium duty trucks under minimal supervision.
  • Repairs will include Preventative Maintenance inspections and repairs, air and hydraulic brake repairs, tire repairs, warranty procedures, steering and suspension, electrical trouble-shooting, AC and other duties as assigned.   We operate CAT, Cummings and Detroit Diesel engines.   Our fleet is mainly comprised of Freightliners,  experience with such a vehicle is a plus.
  • In addition, the Technician will assist other Technicians in repairs and will be expected to comply with Safety, EPA, OSHA , FMCSA procedures, and continue to learn additional mechanical duties such as advanced computer diagnostics, internal engine and transmission repairs.
  • Prepare safety documents required by the DOT, company and any other Federal, State, or Local regulations.
  • Interpret work orders and technical manuals.
  • Repair or replace defective parts, components or systems.
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that the work meets manufacture’s specifications and legislated regulations.
  • The ability to work alone or as a team.
  • The ability to keep up with changing technology and updates.
  • Must be have air brake certification

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
  • Must posses at minimum, a set of hand tools up to ¾.
  • Must be able to document repairs on the computer.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s license, clean driving record and the ability to meet our driving qualification to include DOT physical & pre-employment drug testing.
  • CDL Class A or B, passenger endorsement preferred.
  • 3-5 years plus years of proven heavy-duty diesel engine repair plus PM’s, tire & wheel, air & hydraulic brakes diagnosis, computerized diagnostics and electrical.
  • Ability to recognize vehicle maintenance needs; ability to interpret policies and procedures, maps, and route directions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and on-call rotations for roadside assistance.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
