The Archdiocese of Milwaukee- Central Offices is looking for a passionate and service minded finance professional to work with our 190+ parishes in 10 counties to ensure their financial activities are sound and consistent with best practice.
Responsibilities:
Support parishes and schools in accordance with the Parish Financial Management Manual
Review of annual parish confidential financial reports
Plan and develop programs and training curriculum relating to parish finances
Involvement in parish budget approval procedure
Participate in the proxy approval process for requests involving parish funds or property and serve on the Building Commission
Administer the Office of Parish Finance
Special projects and presentations
Occasional evening and weekend work. Frequent travel (weekly) throughout the 10 counties of the archdiocese.
Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Accounting is required. A CPA certificate is highly desirable.
Minimum of five years of accounting experience, including at least two years in an audit function is preferred.
Experience working in parishes on a volunteer or paid basis is desirable.
Knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and its mission is desirable.
Knowledge of auditing procedures.
Ability to accumulate, summarize, analyze and interpret financial data.
Ability to communicate effectively with archdiocesan staff, pastors/parish directors, parish trustees and finance committees verbally and in writing.
Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of organizational structure of parishes and of the archdiocese.
Knowledge of appropriate computer software, specifically Quickbooks .
Knowledge of budget procedures and ability to communicate to others.
Ability to motivate and work with other archdiocesan staff in area of parish finances.
Ability to do long- and short-range planning, set priorities, individually and in collaboration with others.
Proven facilitation/presentation skills.
Skill, knowledge and ability to plan, prepare and administer office budgets.
Leadership and supervision skills.
