Position Summary, Engineer
Under general direction of the Engineering Manager, develops and execute projects of standard design structures and effectively customize standard designs to meet order-specific customer requirements. Represents the company in communication and coordinate with customers and suppliers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Independently completes project activity.  Projects can be either product/process improvement or production design process improvement.  Contributes ideas for further improvements. 

Responsible for completing work on multiple projects with respect for completeness, accuracy and adherence to design standards.  All work must be completed in an efficient, accurate and timely manner
 
Detail Orientated, ability to communicate with all Drafting, Engineering and Sales/Marketing personnel
  • Responsible for calculating project cost changes and scope changes and communicating those cost changes to Sales/Marketing to negotiate with customer
  • Maintaining and updated Project Database for respected projects
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Associate Project Engineer and Drafting personnel.
  • Communicate and update stake holders.
  • Accountable for typical items in project flow chart.
 
Works independently to solve problems, but uses good judgment in seeking guidance where appropriate.  Interfaces with other departments regularly in completing routine work.
 
Work content is an even mixture of routine and non-routine tasks.  Typical work requires an understanding of Engineering processes, familiarity with Engineering information and familiarity with data sources. 
 
Independently completes complex production designs through utilization of design standards and tools in a 3D CAD modeling environment, often working outside the scope of the tools.  Also completes moderately complex designs or designs that fall outside the scope of the design system.  Able to review more complex customer specifications and make decisions regarding customer specific requirements.  Fluent in product and process knowledge as well as in production structural and mechanical design principles.  Uses this knowledge in decision making. 

Computer literacy is critical as most work requires the use of computer-based systems, a personal computer and a 3D CAD modeling system.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree in structural, mechanical engineering or architectural sciences is required.  One to fifteen years of applicable experience in strucutral and process design. Two to five years of training or experience in the use of computer-based tools (Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD 2010 or Higher and 3D Modeling Software).  3D modeling experience is preferred.  Engineer In Training and Professional Engineering license is preferred.
