Job Description
Universal Electronics, Inc. has over 30 years experience in the EMS industry.  Headquartered in our Whitewater, WI facility, Universal Electronics, Inc. supports over 50 customers and 500 printed circuit board assemblies and sub assemblies.  We manufacture for customers in the medical, test equipment, industrial, agricultural, and scientific instrumentation.
Quality Engineer

This position is in our Whitewater, WI facility and reports directly to the Quality Manager.

The Quality Engineer supports the development and implementation of methods, processes and related solutions encountered in the electronic manufacturing process. These processes include surface mount, part prep, automated through-hole insertion, hand insertion, hand solder, wave solder, selective solder, mechanical assembly, conformal coating, potting, in-circuit test, functional test, and system test. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Establish effective liaison with all departments, keeping them abreast of quality problems, program priorities, process audits, and other significant information, which may relate to their areas.
  • Root Cause Analysis
  • Answer customer corrective actions as assigned.
  • Oversee supplier incoming inspection and the process audit activities.
  • Perform all quality control liaisons with vendors.
  • Assist purchasing in the generation and follow-up of SCARs to suppliers.

  • Oversee generation of weekly and monthly quality metrics for review by the company.
  • Oversee the document control system.
  • Conduct Customer PPAPs as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Quality Manager.
 
Required Skills, Experience:
 
  • A minimum of three years of Quality related experience required in electronic assembly.
  • Electronic manufacturing processing experience.
  • A working knowledge of ISO 9001:2008 required.
  • A working knowledge of ISO 13485:2003 is preferred.
  • Experience with problem solving
  • Experience in the use and the implementation of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Energetic with the ability to inspire a sense of urgency in others.
