Position Overview - Reporting to the Business Unit Supervisor, the Packaging Operator is primarily responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of assigned production equipment and processes. Additional responsibilities may involve using forklift or other pallet jack equipment to load, unload, move, stage and count product and materials. This position is for weekend work only.
Job Responsibilities
·Operates and observes secondary packaging equipment to ensure product quality and conformity in order to meet customer standards and specifications.
·Responsible for applying appropriate labels to secondary packages.
·Retrieve product from Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems in order to meet shipping requirements and customer needs.
·Responsible for line change overs as necessary and required to meet the both customer and the organizations operational needs.
·Load and unload shipments safely and move product to storage or staging locations while ensuring products are accurate, free of damage and meet customer standards and delivery schedules.
·Responsible for reporting unsafe conditions or other compliance issues to Business Unit Supervisor.
·Monitors and reviews inventory and production levels to achieve the most efficient operating conditions.
·Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams and report malfunctions to assigned Business Unit Supervisor.
·Safely operate forklifts to keep assigned work area supplied with necessary materials.
Minimum Qualifications
·High School or Equivalency Diploma
·6 months previous Manufacturing, Packaging or Assembly line production experience ideally in a food, process, high-speed packaging or Form-Fill-Seal industry
·Basic mathematical calculation skills and demonstrated mechanical aptitude
·Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions in the English language
·Previous forklift experience desired
·Proficiency using Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel)
