Job Description:
A leading medical furniture manufacturer is seeking a highly responsible, independent supply chain manager to be responsible for all aspects of the supply chain process. The supply chain manager has to look after the entire materials procurement process. They have to be responsible for making sure that each step of the process is being performed effectively to rule out lost sales opportunity and costly delays. They have to arrange the distribution of the product and ensure that sales can be achieved effectively.
Essential Job Duties
Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of all supply chain personnel engaged in ordering, receiving, issuing, and delivering all product requirements.
Ensures that overall procurement effort is achieved at competitive prices and quality standards. Develop processes to ensure purchasing at the lowest total delivered cost (taking into account packaging and inbound logistics costs.)
Maintains and coordinates the effective use of the MRP system, to ascertain raw materials inventory levels for an efficient manufacturing operation.
Develops and executes inventory plans. Establishes lead times and inventory levels for planning/inventory control purposes.
Promotes and develops new and alternate sources of supply. Encourages competitive bidding and establishes and maintains an annual competitive bid program.
Engage in supplier negotiations, contract management, procurement and vendor management for site specific materials.
Oversees all activities related to material management of a product, from planning through delivery of completed unit.
Support MRP and lean strategies such as Kanbans, consignment inventory, and VMI where applicable
Train, coach, and develop teams
Job Requirements
BS in an applicable technical field is desirable with 8+ years of manufacturing supply chain experience. Master’s degree is a plus.
Supply chain related certificates highly desirable:
APICS CSCP - Certified Supply Chain Professional
APICS CPIM - Certified in Production and Inventory Management
ISM CPSM – Certified Professional in Supply Management
Must have a minimum of 5+ years experience with an MRP system (preference to Syteline)
Proficient in root cause analysis and formal problem solving techniques
Highly motivated self-starter exhibiting the ability to respond in a fast paced environment
Understanding of the principles and best practice methods for material procurement and control.
Must have previous experience in overseas sourcing of finished goods and components
Strong negotiating skills with manufacturers in multiple locations across the world
Good written/administrative skills, including computer skills (Microsoft family of products)
Sound decision making based on data driven analysis
Proven history of ability to work effectively with various different departments and levels of management
Working knowledge of engineering part drawings and geometric dimensioning and tolerances
Ability to develop and monitor key performance indicators to maximize supply chain performance
Set business targets and monitor performance against established targets
Experience working in a lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environment
Extensive knowledge of ISO and FDA desirable
Domestic and international travel required – 20%
