Job Description

 Summary
 
Supervise the daily tasking and manage available resources within the Drafting department in order to rapidly, accurately and efficiently support our Customers, Sales, Operations and Engineering. 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
 
  1. Responsible for timely production and completion of Approval Drawing and Production Data (Green Books) in order to support Sales, Operations, Engineering and Our Customers.
 
 
  1. In collaboration with the Director of Technical Services, ensure the Drafting Standards are being met and recommend changes in order to better our product and process.
 
 
  1. Independently completes project activity as delegated by the Director.  Projects can be either product/process improvement or production design process improvement.  Contributes ideas for further improvements.
 
 
  1. Pro-actively identify issues and constraints within the process and works to resolve or minimize impact on the Company.
 
 
  1. Contributes to hiring, firing and discipline within Drafting department.
 
 
  1. Responsible for contributing and participating in the annual reviews of each employee assigned.
 
 
  1. Detail Orientated, ability to communicate with all Drafting, Engineering and Sales/Marketing personnel.
 
 
  1. Works independently to solve problems, but uses good judgment in seeking guidance where appropriate.  Interfaces with other departments regularly in completing routine work.
 
 
  1. Computer literacy is critical as most work requires the use of computer-based systems.
 
 
  1. Due to the variety of tasks, creativity, alertness, and flexibility are important skills.      
 
 
  1. Actively work to motivate employees. Respond in a timely manner, and be pro-active handling issues in the department.
 
 
 
Qualifications
Individuals must possess knowledge of materials and processes related to the company’s manufactured product.  Must be able to manage multiple priorities and complex tasks, often conflicting in nature, to reach commitment dates.  The ability to read and interpret complex specifications is required.
Education and/or Experience
 
Bachelor’s degree in related field plus 3 years supervising experience.
Communication Skills
The Drafting Supervisor reports directly to the Director of Technical Services, and must possess effective communication skills to work closely with product development team members, project managers, manufacturing team members and buyers.   The ability to be clear and direct in communicating goals and priorities along with timely and honest feedback are required.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of specifications and information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Demands
The position requires extended periods of computer use and keyboarding, prolonged sitting is involved.  Individual must have a normal range of hearing and vision to successfully accomplish the requirements of the position.
