Job Description

  • Looking for experienced  industrial sewer.  Responsibilities would be as follows:
  • Operate single or multiple needle power sewing machines to perform diversified work on leathers, fabrics and synthetic materials for products having high grade workmanship and rigid inspection requirements.
  • Set up standard machine attachments and adjust machine, pressure foot, number of stitches, thread tension, etc., to suit nature of work and types of materials.
  • Prefer experience with sewing complex patterns, piping, top stitching, zippers, pleats, materials to foam.  Visually inspect work to insure proper machine operations, ability to make operating adjustments when so required.
  • Train new operators and assist in training during pilot run for new products.
  • Participate on corrective action teams to help solve sewing-related quality issues.
  • Ability to develop and approve work instructions.
  • Develop sewing patterns for different materials including leather, vinyl & cloth for manufacturability.  Responsible for meeting project deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently and with the engineering team on new product development projects.
  • Must be able to perform all sewing requirements in the department.
 
Under general supervision; instructions and guidance provided on new work, variations, operating, setup and adjustments difficulties.
 
2-4 years sewing experience  plus 1 year pattern making experience preferred.
