2017 Community Campaign
Veteran Loaned Executive

United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County (UWGMWC) is seeking a Veteran of the US Armed Forces and/or a current Reservist or member the Wisconsin National Guard for a temporary assignment as a Loaned Executive (LE). The temporary assignment is a full-time position (40 hours/week) from July 31 - December 14, 2017.
 
Loaned Executives augment permanent staff during their annual fundraising campaign. LEs assist in developing strong and enduring relationships with local corporations to ensure continuous support of United Way’s mission. The ideal candidate will be team oriented, able to multi-task and capable of directing different functional groups to a common goal. This high profile position requires leadership qualities, public speaking skills and the desire to resolve community challenges. To prepare Loaned Executives for their assignment UWGMWC provides two weeks of training, continuous staff guidance and progress updates throughout the campaign.
 
United Way is a recognized national brand and is the largest funder of health and human services outside of the federal government. Funds raised through UWGMWC remain local and are invested in nearly 220-plus programs at over 110 local nonprofit program partners.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Desire to learn the mission of UWGMWC and their non-profit partners.
  • Develop a positive, professional working relationship with assigned company contacts and assist them with planning, organizing and conducting an effective fundraising campaign.
  • Educate the assigned company’s employees and leaders about the impact UWGMWC makes through funded programs and services. Ask for financial contributions to support the UWGMWC campaign.
  • Coordinate with team members to achieve UWGMWC’s goals and objectives.
  • Update and maintain UWGMWC’s database to ensure accurate information.
  • Other related duties necessary to achieve UWGMWC’s goals and objectives.
 
Ideal Military Veteran Loaned Executive Traits
  • Prefer Veterans separated from Active Duty within the last five (5-10) years.
  • Team oriented and self-motivated with initiative to achieve a common goal.
  • Adaptive communication skills - full spectrum from corporate leaders to independent entrepreneurs.
  • Strong writing skills, verbal communication skills and excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent skill-set for identifying customer expectations, prioritizing tasks and offering practical solutions.
  • Displays the highest professional qualities; integrity is essential for client confidentiality.
 
Additional Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable automobile and auto insurance coverage - 30-50% local travel (no overnight).
  • Requires 40 hours per week, occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
  • Capable to lift up to 25 lbs., able to walk, sit and stand for extended periods.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is a plus.
