Job Description
Adjunct Instructor Positions – Interior Design - Mount Mary University
Adjunct 1 Position
Studio II – Residential Interior Design (INT 201 001)
Incorporates basic principles and elements of interior design. Emphasis is on conceptual problem solving. Explores spatial relationships. Includes programming, space planning, color usage, material and product identification. Projects encourage independent thinking and creativity while meeting specific client needs. Field trips and speakers.
For teaching content, applicants should have expertise in:
 
  • Residential interior design including all phases of the planning, design and construction processes.
  • Space planning clearances and standards.
  • AutoCAD and 20/20, or other design residential design software.
  • Residential industry knowledge of materials, applications and procedures.
Adjunct Position 2: 
Computer Aided Drafting (INT 230 001)
Introduces use of computer-aided drafting software for interior design application. Emphasizes beginner features, strategies, and considerations in the use of AutoCAD (current release) for Windows based PCs.  
For teaching content, applicants should have expertise in:
 
  • AutoCAD and other design software.
  • Industry knowledge of applications, procedures and standards.
  • Interface of AutoCAD with other design and industry software.
  • Drawing support practices, i.e. printing, scanning, etc…
Qualifications:
 
  • MFA in Interior Design preferred, Masters and/or extensive industry experience may be considered.
  • Professional membership in ASID, IIDA, NKBA or similar, preferred.
  • NCIDQ certified, preferred.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Evidence of professional industry experience required.
  • Ability to teach the design process from start to finish with college level students.
  • Ability to challenge students in critical and creative thinking for form and content.
