Children grow and change amazingly quickly. In order to keep your child healthy, your child should have pediatric well-child visits. Each visit includes a complete physical examination. During this visit, the doctor will check your infant or young child’s growth and development; ensuring that any problems are detected early.
During this visit, we will record your child’s height, weight, and other important information. The height, weight, and head circumference are recorded on a growth chart, which we keep with your child’s medical record. Special attention is paid to whether the child is meeting normal developmental milestones. Because childhood obesity is such a problem, we want to ensure your child’s weight is appropriate for their height. If not, we discuss dietary options to maintain proper nutrition.Hearing, vision, and other tests will be performed during some visits. Preventive care is essential to keep children healthy.
Our well-child visits are important times for communication. Dr. Arce-Garzon will share information about normal development, nutrition, sleep, safety and diseases that are “going around.” You can make the most of these visits by writing down important questions or concerns before you come and bring them with you to the appointment.
