CTaccess was founded as Computer Technologies in 1990 by Gary Eide. He had been working as a full-time Pastor before founding Computer Technologies. Technology had been one of Gary’s hobbies for many years, so IT was a natural move as he looked for a job opportunity. Gary decided to start his own company in 1990, where he could lead with the integrity and values that he believed in. He started out on his own working mostly out of his car, home, and a small office on Forest Home Ave in Milwaukee. Shortly after, he hired his daughter Vicki Hirschfeld, who is now our VP.

The business grew quickly, and Gary brought on his son-in-law Scott Hirschfeld, now our President and CEO, in January of 1992 as a hands-on IT person. Back then, the current network technology was Novell ELS 2.2 and PCs had 5.25” floppy drives. If the PC had a hard drive, most often it was measured in MB not GB. As crazy as it sounds, the Internet had not yet reached small business.

The company continued to grow and other technical staff was added. Our location has changed over the years. We moved from Forest Home in Milwaukee to Bluemound Road in Brookfield in 1993. After expanding to occupy two separate and un-joined office suites at the Bluemound Road location, and the Y2K boom, we moved to our present location at 740 Pilgrim Parkway in Elm Grove, WI. This has been our home for 10+ years.

In 1998, we decided to venture into the world of what then was called Document Imaging. We started a partnership with Laserfiche that is still in place today. The terminology has changed, from Document Imaging, to Document Management, and finally to Enterprise Content Management (ECM). And, the focus has shifted to that of creating efficiency through business process management, rather than as it was in the early days, mostly scanning and retrieving paper.

In 2008, we began to change our IT support practice from a break/fix approach to a managed services practice. We deployed management tools and designed a process intensive methodology, insuring that we would provide a high-performance outsourced IT department to our clients. This methodology has grown and improved over the years, and our reach has expanded to help new clients in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

Today we are a thriving and growing company. Our commitment to the values upon which CTaccess was founded has not changed. We are focused on helping companies who have similar values and purpose to ours. We want to improve the lives of those we work with, improve our own team, and improve the companies that we work with. In addition, we strive to reach out to our community to help those in need.
