The Mission of the UWM Foundation is to support the educational, literary and scientific endeavors of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee by receiving, managing and distributing gifts to benefit the University's students, faculty, programs and community. In addition, the UWM Foundation provides leadership, oversight and direction to its affiliated corporations, the UWM Real Estate Foundation and the UWM Research Foundation. These corporations create new University facilities to support student life, research, academics and regional economic development, and provide new sources of revenue from research commercialization and entrepreneurial activities. Since 1974, the UWM Foundation has endeavored to advance the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) through the solicitation of philanthropic gifts to support students, faculty, campus programming and the community. As good stewards of funds designated for the University, we manage an ever-growing portfolio currently valued at approximately $200 million, and distribute these funds to the University pursuant to donor wishes.
