Company Overview
Beyond Vision is the banner that WisCraft and Associated Industries for the Blind (AIB) operate under. Both are 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit companies with the mission of providing employment opportunities to people who are visually impaired and legally blind. With the national average of unemployment for people who are legally blind at 70%, we are passionate about achieving our vision that, "Beyond Vision will further enrich the lives of people who are legally blind by providing employment opportunities through commercially successful work valued by customers and the community”. Beyond Vision employs people who are blind in our machine shop, assembly and packaging, communication center, and Base Supply Center business units. Beyond Vision was established in 1903 as the “Wisconsin Workshop for the Blind”. Over its 107-year history, the company has evolved and made the first successful transition from State agency to a private not-for-profit company in 1985. Beyond Vision is not a United Way agency and does not receive any operational federal, local or state funding other than through project specific grant requests.

Beyond Vision's sources of operational funding primarily consist of revenues from our business units. We have excellent long-standing relationships with local customers such as Briggs and Stratton, Harley Davidson, Pentair, P&H, Morris Material Handling, and Oshkosh Truck to name a few. Enabled by the JWOD (Javits-Wagner-O’Day) Act, the AbilityOne Program leverages the federal acquisition system to create jobs for people who are blind or who have other severe disabilities in the manufacture and delivery of products and services. WisCraft participates in this program with approximately 20% of our revenues derived from the AbilityOne program. We currently supply certain computer accessories, office supplies and small entry mats to the US government including all branches of the military.

A 15 member Presidentially-appointed Committee oversees the AbilityOne Program as defined by the JWOD Act. WisCraft is a member agency of NIB (National Industries for the Blind), which assists us in the process of becoming approved to supply products to the government. The oversight federal agency of NIB is known as the (Presidents) Committee for Purchase from People Who Are Blind or Severely Disabled. WisCraft is ISO 9001:2008 certified and utilizes lean manufacturing processes to insure the highest quality in our products and services. We offer employee training that begins with an evaluation of baseline skill levels and the ability to objectively match the worker with the job skills necessary to meet customer requirements. WisCraft is an Employer of Choice and has an ongoing focus on improvements to the work environment. Our employees have a feeling of success, an increased awareness of the importance of a job well done as well as a heightened level of pride and independence.
