Company Overview
Founded in 1945, in the settlement house tradition, Neighborhood House of Milwaukee is a family-oriented center for education and empowerment. Neighborhood House (NH) has become widely known for our Nationally Accredited Early Childhood Education Program, Youth and Family Programs, Outdoor/Environmental Education, and the Indochinese Learning Center. We focus our efforts on Milwaukee's near West side, an area bounded by I-43 on the east; North Avenue on the north; the Stadium Expressway (I-41) on the west; and I-94 on the south. Our diverse target area includes households consisting primarily of African American families, as well as Native American, White, Asian and Hispanic families. The area is characterized by a disproportionately high number of families living at or below the poverty level and a large concentration of households headed by single parents. In keeping with our mission, NH helps neighborhood residents and families improve the quality of life for themselves, their relatives, the neighborhood and the community. NH strengthens family and neighborhood life by promoting self-sufficiency and helping to build solutions to challenges that create barriers to educational, economic and personal growth.
