Company Overview
At Dental Associates, our focus is simple: to make people smile. Part of how we do that is by continuously investing in our facilities, the latest dental technologies and equipment. The other part, and we think the most important part, is our people. We look for the best. And we hire the best. We don’t just mean the best experts in their fields, either. Yes, our dentists, hygienists, specialists, surgeons and support staff are all smart, skilled, and experienced. But they are also the best people. People who have compassionate spirits and caring hearts. People who have a passion for what they do. And people who genuinely love to help people smile.

The History of Dental Associates

Dr. John G. Gonis founded dental Associates in 1973. The first clinic was at 1100 S. 16th Street in Milwaukee. With a dedication to service and a sincere desire to see people smile, Dr. Gonis served the needs of a very under-served Spanish community. Then in 1986, Dr. Gonis wanted to spread the smiles, so he established a second Dental Associates location in Wauwatosa, which was also considered the corporate headquarters. From that point on, the smiles kept widening throughout northeastern Wisconsin: Appleton in 1992; Kenosha and Green Bay in 1994; Fond du Lac in 1996; North Appleton and Greenville in 2007; and Sturtevant and Franklin in 2011. In 2014 history repeats itself in some respects, as Dental Associates returns to Milwaukee. The new downtown Milwaukee dental clinic is in the historic Iron Block Building, a 50,000 square foot Italianate style building first constructed in 1860 during Abraham Lincoln’s presidency. This completely restored building houses the corporate offices, as well as a clinic on multiple floors. Shortly after the opening of our downtown Milwaukee location, we opened our 12th location just north of downtown Milwaukee in the Beerline B neighborhood. In 2016, Dental Associates expanded their suburban Milwaukee presence further west with the opening of a clinic in Waukesha. Just a month later, they supplemented Green Bay’s main dental clinic with a second location in the western Green Bay suburb of Howard, bringing its total number of locations to 14.

In 2008, Dr. Gonis’ nephew, Dr. Thomas Manos, took over ownership. Dr. Manos keeps his uncle’s passion for people and commitment to excellence thriving. What once was a small office serving only one location is now an AAAHC (Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care) Accredited organization of nearly 800 staff members serving 14 locations throughout eastern Wisconsin, from Green Bay to Kenosha.

Accredited Healthcare Organization

Dental Associates is proud to be a Nationally Accredited Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) organization. Accreditation by AAAHC means Dental Associates has undergone a thorough, independent survey of our policies and practices held against nationally recognized standards. The accreditation process involves a self-assessment and an on-site evaluation conducted by AAAHC surveyors. Being accredited by AAAHC means that Dental Associates is committed to providing high-quality care, and more importantly, that we demonstrate our commitment through on-going self evaluation, peer review and education so that we can continuously improve our services and care.

Dental Associates is also proud to have received an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and to consistently receive high Press Ganey patient satisfaction scores at all our locations. Learn more about our AAAHC accreditation.

Complete Care

Dental Associates is led by Dr. Thomas Manos, who champions the belief that team dentistry builds the best relationships and delivers the best results for patients. That’s why Dental Associates provides complete family dental services, from general to specialty dentistry, under one roof, all with a focus on excellent care that is affordable, accessible and personalized. For all ages. For all kinds of dentistry needs. In fact, Dental Associates is nationally accredited through the AAAHC as a Dental Home organization. By definition, that means we have an ongoing relationship with our patients and deliver comprehensive, continuously accessible, coordinated care in a family centered way.

This is how it works: Primary provider teams include a general dentist, at least one hygienist, dental assistants and administrative support staff. Patients are assigned to and managed by a doctor whose team provides the dental care. A pediatric dentistry department manages children who are younger than 12 years old in a separate team concept. When needed, specialists in orthodontics, oral surgery, and periodontics consult and support the primary care providers’ patients. All it takes is a walk down the hall because the entire team is in the same building.

And with that, we understand that each person has individual needs, from the dental work they need to the way they can pay for their dental bills.
