AgFed is a member-owned financial institution. Since there are no stockholders, profits are returned to members in the form of lower rates on loans, higher rates on savings, and additional services. We're a cooperative - a not-for-profit, democratically run organization of people who have banded together to give ourselves a better deal than we're going to get from profit-driven financial institutions. The more services you use, the more you save! Our services are comparable to those of other financial institutions. The only difference is you'll pay less.

Agriculture Federal Credit Union began in 1934 as the Agricultural Employees Credit Union of D.C. The Credit Union opened its doors for business in May and by the end of the month, the Credit Union boasted a membership of 20 people and assets of $59.75. The Department of Agriculture employees in Washington, D.C. bonded together to help each other save and borrow.

Their vision of people helping people continues today.
