In 1963, Scandinavian Designs opened its first store in San Rafael, California, with the vision of bringing Scandinavian designed furniture and giftware to the San Francisco market. Now referred to as mid-century modern in style, and known around the world, we continue to source the best in contemporary furnishings and pride ourselves on providing exceptional designs at great values.


Today, we import from many countries around the world, and are proud to offer a wide selection of pieces that are American-made. Scandinavian Designs now operates across seven states under the brand names Scandinavian Designs, Plummers and Dania and is headquartered in Petaluma, CA. We care about doing our part to help design a better world to live in. We believe in protecting and conserving our natural resources. At our headquarters in Petaluma California, we have installed solar power, creating a renewable, sustainable energy for our warehouse. Many of our stores are also solar powered (and it is our mission to go solar with all of our stores in the near future!). In our stores and warehouses we have installed energy efficient LED lighting and we take pride in recycling 100% of our paper, cardboard and packaging materials. While our products have used renewable woods and sustainable materials for many years, our commitment is to continue to develop new ways of upholding an "eco-friendly" standards in everything we do.
