Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Every other weekend, 2nd shift, 3:30pm-11:00pm. Rotating holidays.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Responds to and operates multi-function work stations, paging systems (overhead and pocket pager), emergency hotline and alarm devices for the purpose of answering, connecting, and directing calls to appropriate locations, and to facilitate hospital response to emergency situations.
  • Provides an expeditious communication link between in-house and on-call personnel, patients, and caregivers in routine, urgent, and emergent medical and non-medical conditions, through the use of information binders, on-call schedules, personnel lists, hospital safety procedures, and relevant department policies and procedures.
  • Provides and arranges for the repair of pocket pagers, patient room telephones, and "special needs" patient telephones.
  • Maintains current knowledge of department and Medical Center policies and procedures, computer and hard copy files of all physician key personnel and on-call personnel, and information through continuous review of bulletin board postings, department handouts and memos, and attendance at staff and other relevant meetings.

  • High School Graduate.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills essential.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays and, occasionally, a variety of shifts.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must sit approximately 90 percent of the workday.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. on occasion.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations daily regarding the number and nature of calls received at the Medical Center.
  • Exposed to a normal office environment.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
