Technical Project Lead - Automotive Advanced Engineering

The Technical Project Lead will drive multiple advanced engineering teams from product conceptualization and development through go-to-market delivery.  In this role, you will be at the forefront of executing projects that will create new industry-leading products for in-vehicle comfort and well-being.  You will lead Gentherm’s technology to the next degree, benefiting from our strong market share in the automotive supplier industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and lead local and global engineering project activities with multiple cross-functional software, hardware, systems, validation, and user experience teams during development, vehicle integration, and launch of new products. 
  • Perform technical feasibility reviews. 
  • Coordinate resource planning and effort estimation. 
  • Plan/coordinate product sprints according to the Agile methodology to meet milestones. 
  • Conduct stand-ups, remove roadblocks, assist with project backlog. 
  • Align dependencies across disciplines to execute project timing. 
  • Communicate project status reports to engineering, leadership, and executives and identify any associated risks. 
  • Evaluate system requirements and ensure traceability in DOORS. 
  • Create technical work breakdown structure, assign work packages, and monitor project progress.  
  • Lead internal and external project meetings including planning meetings, backlog refinement, milestones, external customer demos, RFIs, RFQs, and customer joint development projects. 
  • Be the overall product owner and voice of the customer to internal project teams.   
  • Lead an Agile team, supporting each other and working with the project leaders to secure project deliverables, while coordinating with other SCRUM teams within each product area.  
  • Supervise the development process and implementation of product design, including close collaboration with internal and external suppliers. 
  • Serve as the technical coach and mentor for the product teams.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in automotive product ownership and experience with high volume production applications 
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, organization, decision-making, problem-solving, and project management. 
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field 
  • Familiar with automotive electronics hardware, software and systems requirements, functional objectives, and validation methods and tools. 
  • Closed-loop control systems. 
  • Track record of successfully leading system projects. 
  • Strong cross functional communication and networking skills. 
  • Good interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to prepare and present complex written reports and other documents. 
  • Designing analog, digital, semiconductors, microprocessors, power supplies, electronics hardware design, and communication circuits. 
  • Working knowledge of automotive specifications and requirements for electrical engineering and electromechanical systems. 
  • Agile projects and Scrum. 
  • JIRA and Confluence. 
  • IBM DOORS OR Polarion Requirements Management. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Model-based development (MBD) and analysis tools including Simulink. 
  • LIN and CAN for automotive OEM. 
  • Functional safety product design. 
  • Production launch of ASPICE project. 
  • Embedded software design and C code. 
  • Electronics assembly processes and equipment. 
  • Experience creating DFMEA, WCA, DFM. 
  • Hardware development from concept to series support. 
  • Development of HVAC, thermal, or pneumatic systems.

TRAVEL: Travel as necessary to perform position duties with international teams and customers. Travel may vary, but can be up to ~10% travel for periods of 1 to 2 weeks based on project workload.
