Christ Hospital Neurosurgery has an exciting opportunity for a Advanced Practice Practitioner to join one of the Top Neuroscience Programs in the State of Illinois and highly trained team ranked top in their field. About the Role

The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to work in an autonomous, positive work environment, be motivated to learn from multiple clinicians to acquire new skills, and will thrive working with a collaborative team comprised of 5 attendings, 14 Advanced Practice Clinicians and Neurosurgery residents.

Opportunity to experience all aspects of Neurosurgery including: Complex Spine, Skull base, Minimally invasive surgery, Endovascular treatment of Neuro vascular disorders, Pediatric Neurosurgery and Neuro trauma.

Must be willing to working nights autonomously and be motivated to learn and collaborate with multiple providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and initiate work up for new inpatient consultations
  • Inpatient focused, no outpatient clinic responsibilities to allow maximum growth within specialty
  • Work schedule of three – 12hour shifts with self-scheduling opportunities; Flexible, collaborative scheduling
  • Serve as a clinical expert and resource for the education of peers and other health professionals
  • Perform medical services overnight on weeknights and weekends for Neurosurgical and Neuro-interventional patients in support of the medical plan and follow up care needs
  • Work collaboratively with the Neurosurgery team to maintain timely and appropriate communication with family members house staff other disciplines and ancillary services
  • First Assist with emergent surgical cases as needed
  • No call environment
  • Formulate a medical plan for the patient and reviewing the plan with the rounding provider
  • Assist with coding and billing compliance
  • Participate in quality improvement and/or research initiatives for specific patient population as appropriate

Position Requirements:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent as a APRN effective January 1, 2018 and 1 year APRN experience in the relevant setting preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • First Assist Certification is required for NPs
  • Proficiency with an Electronic Medical Record
  • Current licensure in the State of Illinois
  • Current Illinois Controlled Substance License within 6 months of hire
  • Eligible for DEA registration Possession of a current DEA Registration within six months of hire and may vary based on practice site
  • Current BLS Certification Current PALS/ACLS certification may vary based on practice site
  • Travel may be required
  • Ability to work varying hours and shifts to meet the needs of Advocate Health Care.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations. Able to respond quickly to patient needs
