Job Description

This Indirect Category Manager - Manufacturing Categories reports to the Director of Indirect Strategic Sourcing and is responsible for the strategic management of sourcing and program deployment of manufacturing categories indirect materials and services such as MRO, Facility Services, Energy, Capital Equipment, and Packaging. This role will be responsible for developing the strategic category strategies for the assigned areas and partner with key internal stakeholders across corporate functions as well as operations to manage strategic supplier relationships and supplier solutions to ensure the best total cost and performance of indirect spend. This role will be responsible for driving strategic action to align the spend profile for assigned categories to identified strategic suppliers as well as delivering annual cost improvement goals.

This position is located in either Milwaukee, WI or Downers Grove, IL.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintains the highest level code of conduct and ethics.
  • Manages complex multi-year customer / supplier relationships aligned to enable operations service and material needs.
  • Leads the strategic relationships in partnership with key stakeholders for all strategic sourcing activities related to enterprise indirect material and services to cross functional supply, engineering, technical support and operations groups.
  • Conducts brainstorming sessions at Zurn Elkay facilities with cross functional teams to identify strategic commodities and deployment priorities on cost saving initiatives.
  • Provides leadership to sourcing/project managers on the deployment of projects with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drives spend analysis, including counter measures for projects that fall short of plan and makes decisions to remedy the issues to get the teams back on track to meet or exceed plan.
  • Executes strategies and supplier development activities to support Diversity spend initiatives and Supply Chain ESG strategies
  • Proactively assesses internal and external process improvements and influences effective change and drive innovation and continuous improvements.
  • Collaborates with global business units on the preparation of Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotations (RFQ's) and leads the screening and supplier selection process.
  • Negotiate and drafts supplier contracts of sale, including payment terms, deliveries, price, freight terms, currency exchange, service levels and technical resources, inventory levels.
  • Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future (industry trends in pricing and availability that will impact the business) material availability, and prepares market analysis reports.
  • Responsible for timely reporting to agreed upon KPI's and presenting Strategic Sourcing plans, activities and progress
  • Develops & mentors the next generation of Supply Chain leaders.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required, MBA preferred

  • 5+ years experience in Indirect Category Management

  • Experience with sourcing of Manufacturing Spend categories; sense of urgency, strong critical thinking, and analytical skills.

  • Able to act and make independent decisions as well as work effectively in a team environment.

  • Ability to dissect and determine root causes of problems and implement solutions.

  • Collaborative and effective in a cross-functional environment.

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while meeting multiple deadlines for leadership.
