This opportunity is accountable for providing technology leadership and direction to a range of stakeholders including suppliers, IT and QBE business through strategies, roadmaps, standards and project options. In addition, this role is responsible for providing support to the delivery of global enterprise programs.

Primary Responsibilities

* Responsible for implementing Technology strategy, roadmaps and patterns in the areas of DevSecOps, Developer Experience and Application Infrastructure technologies to deliver business strategy aligned to the global architecture
*Maximize the alignment & leverage reuse of technology, establish common solutions & optimize skills across QBE to achieve cost efficiencies
*Monitor and review technical progress against the roadmaps to anticipate and resolve any issues so that the IT strategy objectives are met
*Lead the establishment of strategy and reference architecture and roadmaps for assigned domains in line with agreed timelines and QBE priorities.
*Conduct technology assurance and governance. Ensure aligned to architecture policy and practices
*Facilitate the use of standardized tools and approach to documenting enterprise architecture to ensure consistency across the team
*Actively promote and embed the architecture ways of working and due governance.
*Conduct research of emerging architecture and technology trends.
*Provide direction during technology decision making activities
*Contribute to practice management principles, policies and practices
*Act as an escalation point for issues brought by Enterprise or Solution Architects
*Manage a team of Enterprise Architects, when appropriate, either as a direct line manager or as part of a project or program team structure


Required Education

* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience

* 10+ years relevant experience

Preferred Competencies/Skills

*Demonstrable ability to influence decisions and negotiate solutions with suppliers and QBE stakeholders at all levels including Board members in order to ensure the right results for QBE
*Proven ability to deliver architecture in a large-scale fast-moving dynamic environment
*Proven experience of problem analysis and design techniques
*Proven people leadership skills
*Strong ability to identify and quantify key areas of risk or complexity
*A good understanding of the inter-operation of hardware, network and software components necessary for the delivery of complete, complex systems
*Experience of working with third party service supplier / outsource providers
*Strong analysis and evaluation skills
*Ability to prioritize and organize work to achieve deadlines
*Ability to manage impacts of parallel architecture programs to ensure that any risks are minimized.
*Excellent documentation skills - both at a detailed and summary level
*Strong communication and interpersonal skills with an appreciation for an ability to communicate with and respond to the needs of diverse audiences
*Self-driven
*Lead Domain Architects:
*Significant experience of setting an Architecture strategy and ensuring a governance policy is adhered to across the business
*Lead Divisional Architects:
*Confirmation and elaboration of business goals and drivers
*May have a specialism as follows:
*Data Architecture
*Experience of Management Information and Enterprise Information Integration within a corporate environment.
*In-depth knowledge of large-scale data architecture programs including increasing the maturity of the architecture function
*Understand the elements of data architecture and what good information flows would look like across the business
*Information Systems
*Experience in large scale digital transformation, preferably with experience in the technologies aligned to QBEs target state
*Infrastructure Architecture
*Strong experience of working with Cloud Architecture and how applications, data and infrastructure can be managed in the cloud as well as integration patterns to support hybrid implementation patterns
*Significant experience in ensuring conformity to architectural principles (e.g. supportability, future-proofing, consolidation), standards and strategy
*Strong understanding and experience of utilizing infrastructure architecture concepts and tools

Preferred Experience

* 2-3 years enterprise architecture experience
*10+ years of experience in project delivery including large scale program experience

Preferred Licenses/Certifications

* TOGAF v9 certification

Preferred Knowledge

*Expert knowledge of architecture: concepts, practices and tools
*Expert knowledge of Digital, emerging and disruptive technology applications
*Expert knowledge of the overall current state and future IT strategy and how the future state is aligned to the business strategy
*Expert knowledge of QBE business, systems, and processes.
*Working knowledge of the inter-operation of hardware, network and software components necessary for the delivery of complete, complex systems
*Working knowledge of the end-to-end business context of any architecture work to ensure it meets the broader business needs of QBE
*Working knowledge of developing IT/insurance & cross industry/competitor trends (applications, delivery models, new technology concepts etc.)
*Working knowledge of Insurance business

Compensation

Base pay offered will vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location and business needs

Annual Salary Range: $98,000 - $146,000
