Job Description

You will report to our Engineering Manager for the Data Center vertical. You will work within our Engineering Department to design, develop, and document Chiller designs within the scope of products manufactured by the Data Center team. You will manage the development and transfer of technology including documentation of products that span across Climate Solution Regions (Americas, EMEA, and Asia).

Requirements:

The minimum requirement is a college graduate in engineering or related technical discipline with 2+ years engineering experience, or a master's degree in engineering, a related technical discipline, or business, with 1+ years engineering experience, or 7+ years equivalent experience in the specified engineering discipline with a strong fundamental background and/or experience in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and psychometrics. Four plus years' experience specifically with Chiller, HVAC, or unitary design especially those dealing with sheet metal is a plus.

You should have a working knowledge of Mathcad, a 3D CAD System, FEA & CFD software and Microsoft Office applications. You must have strong analysis and problem solving skills. You shall also have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Design & Develop new Chiller products and supporting documentation based on project scope, market needs and regulatory requirements for the Data Center Vertical.
  • Evaluates and designs electromechanical products by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer and materials.
  • Perform finite element modeling and structural simulation for the products. Interpret FEA results and recommend design changes/directions to meet product performance requirements.
  • Interface with other Modine regions, CS manufacturing locations, and/or customers to assure a smooth transition from one region to another with global product development.
  • Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
  • Support customer applications with heat transfer, energy and/or chiller system designs. Review of approval and manufacturing drawing packages.
  • Support other engineers and designers with product development projects related to design and documentation as needed.
  • Travel to other regions (Leeds, UK) and customer sites if needed (10-15%).
