Job Description
Kalmbach Media, a publisher of science and hobby magazines and websites, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic and inquisitive staff writer for its growing DiscoverMagazine.com web team. This position will be heavily focused on writing web articles that will support our digital growth goals. You will play an integral role in helping us deliver more frequent content across our broad science-based categories to satisfy the curiosity of our large online audience.

- Write 10+ articles per week for DiscoverMagazine.com, including informational pieces, news and embargoed studies, and trending topics.
- Utilize engaging headlines and ledes, as well as SEO best practices where appropriate.
- Pitch new story ideas across all content categories, aimed at supporting website traffic goals.
- Collaborate with the Discover digital team on weekly web coverage and new content opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications or relevant discipline.
- 2-4 years’ experience writing content for the web.
- Ability to write clean copy at a high frequency.
- Interest in/knowledge of science-based topics is a plus.
